Qatar, a jewel of the Arabian Gulf, offers a perfect combination of rich cultural heritage and luxurious experiences, making it an excellent departure port for your next cruise adventure. Whether you’re fascinated by ancient traditions, intrigued by modern architecture, or seeking a taste of Arabian opulence, Qatar has it all, making it a top choice for cruise passengers from around the world.

When is the best time to cruise from Qatar?

The peak cruise season in Qatar typically falls between November and April, when temperatures are milder and ideal for exploring. Plus, with comfortable indoor facilities and air-conditioned attractions, cruising from Qatar is a delightful experience for those in search of some much-needed winter sun.

Which cruise lines sail from Qatar?

Every year MSC Cruises has a ship homeporting in Qatar from November to March, in fact, 2022 saw the inauguration and naming ceremony of their brand new vessel MSC World Europa in Doha just before the 2022 Fifa World Cup. Looking ahead to the Winter 2024/2025 MSC Euribia will call the port of Doha home for the duration of the cruise season. Celestyal Cruises also cruises from Qatar with their brand new ship Celestyal Journey homeporting in the Qatari capital for the next two winter seasons. There are also a limited number of luxury cruise lines such as Azamara, Seabourn and Silversea that sail with one-off itineraries throughout the year.

Where do cruises from Qatar go to?

Departing from Qatar allows you to embark on captivating journeys to remarkable destinations in the Arabian Gulf and beyond. Cruise itineraries often include visits to neighbouring countries such as Oman, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, each offering unique cultural encounters and architectural marvels. Additionally, some cruises venture farther afield, allowing you to explore destinations in the Indian Ocean or even Southeast Asia.

What should you do whilst you’re in Qatar?

Welcome to Qatar, a land of captivating contrasts where ancient traditions meet modern innovation. Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the cultural richness of the capital city, Doha. Explore the renowned Museum of Islamic Art, an architectural marvel housing a remarkable collection of Islamic artefacts spanning over 1,400 years. Stroll along the Doha Corniche, a picturesque waterfront promenade offering stunning views of the city’s skyline.

Discover Qatar’s vibrant Souq Waqif, a traditional market where you can shop for spices, textiles, and handicrafts while immersing yourself in the bustling atmosphere. Indulge in the flavours of Qatari cuisine at one of the many restaurants in Souq Waqif, savouring dishes like Machbous (spiced rice with meat or fish) or tender grilled meats infused with aromatic spices. Make sure to stop by the Falcon Hospital, yes there is actually a hospital specifically for Qatar’s national bird.

For a taste of luxury, visit The Pearl-Qatar, an artificial island renowned for its upscale shopping, waterfront dining, and luxurious residences. Explore the Porto Arabia marina, lined with impressive yachts, or stroll along the vibrant boardwalk, soaking in the glamorous ambience. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit Katara Cultural Village, a cultural hub showcasing Qatari heritage through art exhibitions, performances, and traditional architecture.

Extend your stay?

If you wish to extend your stay in Qatar beyond the cruise, there are numerous opportunities to delve deeper into the country’s offerings. Embark on a desert safari adventure, where you can experience exhilarating dune bashing, camel rides, and enjoy a traditional Bedouin-style dinner under the stars. Explore the rugged beauty of the inland sea, Khor Al Adaid, a UNESCO-listed natural reserve where the desert meets the sea.

For an architectural marvel, visit the iconic Education City, home to renowned universities and architectural masterpieces, including the awe-inspiring Qatar National Library and the innovative Qatar Foundation Headquarters. Discover the charm of the Al Zubarah Archaeological Site, a UNESCO World Heritage.

Looking to venture further afield? Qatar has excellent flight connections to some of the most alluring destinations in the Indian Ocean such as the Maldives, Seychelles, and Mauritius.
