The third instalment of Celebrity Cruises‘ Edge Class trilogy, Celebrity Beyond, is due to hit our shores in 2022, so we decided to take a look at some of the updates, upgrades and stand out features that we can expect to find onboard this beautiful new cruise ship.
Where will Celebrity Beyond be sailing?
Celebrity Beyond‘s maiden sailing will depart from Southampton on the 27th of April 2022. This 10-night cruise will see Celebrity Beyond cruise along the Atlantic coasts of France, Spain and Portugal as she heads to her homeports of Barcelona and Rome where she will begin her maiden season in the Med. Sailing between these two ports she’ll embark on a series of 9 and 10-night cruises around the Western Mediterranean and the Greek Isles. On the 12th of October 2022, she will depart Barcelona on a 12-night transatlantic crossing to New York which will be followed by a 9-night Caribbean repositioning cruise to her homeport of Fort Lauderdale, Florida from where she will set sail on a mixture of 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries throughout our winter season.
What’s New Onboard Celebrity Beyond?
Is it really possible to make Celebrity’s Edge-Class ships even better than they already are? Well, Celebrity Cruises are giving it a go, so if you’ve already stepped aboard Celebrity Edge or Celebrity Apex, here are some of the differences you may or may not notice if you cruise on Celebrity Beyond.
• Celebrity Beyond will have a longer, taller, sleeker profile
• In fact they’ve added an extra deck meaning you can now explore a whole 17 decks
• The Retreat® has been expanded with a 40% larger sundeck for Suite guests
• More Resort Deck for you to soak up the sun on with expanded open-air spaces
• New restaurants, bars, and lounges to enjoy
• 179 more suites and staterooms making a total of 1,646 staterooms which can accommodate 3,260 guests
• The Sunset Bar is now 180% larger, the perfect place to enjoy a sail away cocktail
Celebrity Beyond Staterooms
If you’ve already had the pleasure of setting sail onboard Celebrity Edge or Celebrity Apex you’ll probably be familiar with the incredible Edge-Class staterooms, transformational cabins which set a new standard in world-class accommodations at sea. The Edge Staterooms with Infinite Verandas® are 23% larger than the veranda staterooms you may have experienced on Celebrity’s Solstice Class, here your entire living space becomes the veranda allowing you to really connect with the sea below. Solo guests won’t be disappointed as Celebrity Beyond has doubled the amount of Edge Single Staterooms with Infinite Verandas® available for passengers travelling on their own.
When it’s time to close your eyes you’ll be sure to rest easily on eXhale® bedding and CashmereTM mattresses designed exclusively for Celebrity Cruises. In fact, nearly every stateroom and suite on Celebrity Beyond features a king-sized bed.
Celebrity Beyond – Stand Out Features
Celebrity Cruises have certainly pulled out all the stops when designing the brand new Celebrity Beyond. Having reunited the dream team of architects and designers who first envisioned our Edge Series, they have been given license to improve what some may have thought to already be a near-perfect class of ship. World-famous designers such as Nate Berkus, Kelly Hoppen, CBE, and Tom Wright of WKK have all contributed to redefining the art of luxury travel once again. These are just some of the stand out spaces you’ll be able to explore when you embark on Celebrity Beyond.
MAGIC CARPET
When we first saw the designs of the Magic Carpet when Celebrity Edge was first launched it felt a little bit gimmicky, however, having experienced this cantilevered floating platform, which reaches heights of 13 stories above sea level, on several occasions we absolutely love it.
EDEN
One of our favourite Edge-Class venues, this three-level space has more outward-facing glass than any other venue at sea. Whether you’re looking to relax with a book in one of the cosy nooks or grab one of their signature cocktails and enjoy the lively nighttime entertainment, we’re sure you’ll be coming back here every single day of your cruise.
GRAND PLAZA
The Grand Plaza is a transformational place that offers a different experience every time you visit. From day to night, the lighting changes from warm and inviting to bright and dramatic. This three-story space, inspired by the piazzas of Italy, features a dramatic LED chandelier and a redesigned Martini Bar.
SUNSET BAR
The Sunset Bar has been completely reimagined and is now set to be a staggering 180% larger compared to Edge and Apex. Spanning across two decks this is set to be the place to be as you sail away to your next port of call. If you’re feeling peckish you won’t have far to go as the bar now connects seamlessly to the alfresco dining area of Oceanview Café below.
RESORT DECK
The Resort Deck features endless ways to enjoy the outdoors and connect with the sea, from the beautiful Rooftop Garden to the adults-only Solarium pool, there is a space for everyone. The huge pool and imposing martini-glass shaped hot tubs are not the only focal points of this area as it seems the Elephant sculpture may outdo both as the most Instagrammed feature of this ship!
ROOFTOP GARDEN
With cantilevered float pools that extend over the water’s edge, the reimagined Rooftop Garden looks absolutely stunning. We can’t think of a better place to spend a few hours relaxing with a carefully crafted cocktail enjoying the entertainment amongst the greenery.
New Restaurant – Le Voyage
World-renowned chef Daniel Boulud, Celebrity Cruises’ Global Culinary Ambassador, has created his very first signature restaurant at sea. Expect to encounter globally inspired flavours which he has infused into his menu in order to transport you to the very places that inspired them. The speciality restaurant will be open for both lunch and dinner.
The Retreat onboard Celebrity Beyond
Celebrity Beyond will feature an extra 22 Suites, however, do not fear as The Retreat®, Celebrity Beyond’s exclusive area for Suite guests has been expanded. Both the indoor and enclosed outdoor areas of the Retreat Lounge have been expanded with a brand new refreshed design. The Retreat Sundeck is also able to accommodate the extra guests as it will be 40% larger compared to Celebrity Edge and Apex. The expanded two-story Retreat Sundeck will now span across decks 16 & 17, and along with the pool there is the addition of an extra hot tub to relax in. You’ll find plenty more seating and there are even 6 new Cabanasa above each of the Edge Villas.
Suite guests will also not have to go far when it is time to dine as the dedicated restaurant Luminae has moved from deck 12 to deck 16, adjacent to the Sundeck and Retreat Lounge. The restaurant space has also been expanded and can accommodate an extra 34 covers.
BRAND NEW – Aqua Class Sky Suite
Wellness has always been fundamental to Celebrity Cruises’ philosophy, which in part explains why they have created a brand new way to nourish your mind, body and spirit. The new Aqua Class® Sky Suites combine the best of the traditional Aqua Class stateroom experiences with the luxurious spaces, services, and amenities of The Retreat®. The 20 suites will benefit from access to SEA Thermal Suite, the Retreat Sundeck and the Retreat Lounge. Unlike traditional Aqua Class staterooms, guests will be able to dine at Luminae at the Retreat rather than at Blu, the dedicated Aqua Class restaurant.
