Welcome to the Rocky Mountains!

If this part of the world is at the top of your bucket list, then let us introduce you to Rocky Mountaineer, the only way to experience the Rocky Mountains up close, and in style. Described as a memorable and luxurious experience by many, we can see why so many people choose to travel on this unforgettable train journey.

At first glance there can be a lot to take in, from different experiences onboard the train to multiple routes, which is why we’re here to break it all down for you and to make sure that you get the most out of your journey.

Rail Routes

So, you know you want to visit the Rocky Mountains, but just not sure which route to take, let us walk you through your options onboard Rocky Mountaineer.

First Passage to the West

The first, and in our opinion, the most popular route is First Passage to the West. A legendary rail route that travels through mountain passes and dramatic canyons. This route starts in Vancouver, takes in Kamloops and ends your journey in Banff.

Duration: 2-days – with your overnight stay in a Kamloops hotel
Start/End: Vancouver/Banff (available in reverse)
Optional Extras: Hotel stays in Vancouver/Banff at the start/end of your journey

Journey through the Clouds

Travel along the Fraser River, through Hells Gate and past the Pyramid Falls on the incredible Journey through the Clouds route, which also features Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. This journey starts in Vancouver, with an overnight stop in Kamloops along the way and ending in Jasper.

Duration: 2-days – with your overnight stay in a Kamloops hotel
Start/End: Vancouver/Jasper (also available in reverse)
Optional Extras: Hotel stays in Vancouver/Jasper at the start/end of your journey

Rainforest to Gold Rush

Witness true wilderness on this Rocky Mountaineer journey, see hidden lakes and canyons as you pass through the terrain of the Rocky Mountains. This journey gives you the opportunity to revel in the history of the Gold Rush. Starting your journey in Vancouver, moving on to Whistler, Quesnel and ending this route in Jasper.

Duration: 3-days – with an overnight stay in Whistler & Quesnel
Start/End: Vancouver/Jasper (also available in reverse)
Optional Extras: Hotel stays in Vancouver/Jasper at the start/end of your journey

All of these journeys can be tailored to add more days on to the start or end of the route, as well as having the option to add another rail journey onto the end of your route to circle back to your starting destination.

Onboard Experience

Now you’ve chosen what route you would like to do, it’s time to choose between two of Rocky Mountaineers’ onboard experiences. Whichever experience you go for we would like to say that from the moment you step onboard Rocky Mountaineer, their Hosts go above and beyond to make your journey unforgettable.

SilverLeaf Service

SilverLeaf Service, available on First Passage to the West & Journey through the Clouds, will give you everything you need and more to experience the incredible Rocky Mountains in style. With panoramic views, delicious food and drink brought to your seat and more.

Custom designed glass-dome coaches give you the panoramic view you want when travelling through the Rocky Mountains. The oversized windows give you the chance to view the scenery and wildlife from the comfort of your own reclining chair or take a few snaps closer up in the outdoor viewing area. Not only this but all gourmet meals will be served to you from the comfort of your own seat.

GoldLeaf Service

With the GoldLeaf Service you can get even better views from the panoramic windows in their bi-level glass domes, meals prepared by Executive Chefs and more.

Switch up your viewing angles and stretch your legs on the upper level of the bi-level glass domes or step out onto the exclusive outdoor viewing platform to get closer to the Rockies. Enjoy elegant gourmet meals in the dedicated dining room on the lower level of these coaches. But not to worry, you’ll still get those incredible views from the windows next to your tables.

Onboard Rocky Mountaineer you will be surrounded by a dedicated team of Hosts making sure to provide excellent service and more knowledge than you can imagine about the Rocky Mountains, making your time onboard even more memorable. That’s why when you book a journey on Rocky Mountaineer gratuities are included as part of the package price. Depending on your rail route and package gratuities may or may not be included for sightseeing tours and motorcoach drivers and are entirely at your own discretion.

Now you’ve got all the essential information on Rocky Mountaineer, it’s time to find the deal of a lifetime. Click the links below to explore our Rocky Mountaineer Cruise & Stay packages!
