Welcome to Great Stirrup Cay, located on the northern edge of the Bahamas’ Berry Islands, Norwegian Cruise Line’s original private island is steeped in history. From pirate hideout to military base, Great Stirrup Cay has a rich maritime heritage, however nowadays it’s firmly a Caribbean cruiser’s paradise. This idyllic 250-acre private island sanctuary is exclusive to Norwegian Cruise Line guests and features much more than just beautiful white-sand beaches; there are endless opportunities for fun and relaxation in the Bahamian sun.

What are the highlights of Great Stirrup Cay?

Ever dreamt of swimming with pigs on a deserted Caribbean beach? Well, if you have enough money saved up in your piggy bank you can go the whole hog and take a 10-minute boat ride to Treasure Island. There you’ll be able to jump in the water and have a swim with your new four-legged friends.

If you’re not looking to snorkel among the marine life surrounding the island, take a kayak tour, or even parasail along this stunning coastline, simply order a daiquiri, lie back in a hammock under some shady palm dreams and enjoy life on your Caribbean island paradise.

Is food available at Great Stirrup Cay?

There is a fantastic selection of food included as part of your cruise fare on Great Stirrup Cay, so no need to head back to the ship for lunch at this port of call. A new 8,500-square foot beach buffet features a pizza making station, two grills, plus plenty of hot and cold food stations, as well as fresh fruits and breads.

Can I use my drinks package at Great Stirrup Cay?

Yes, you’ll be able to make full use of your drinks package whilst on Great Stirrup Cay. With several bars to choose from you’ll have plenty of opportunities to sample some of the island’s signature cocktails. This is not the case on Norwegian Cruise Line’s other exclusive Caribbean island, Harvest Caye.

Is there an exclusive area for Haven guests?

Part of Norwegian Cruise Line’s continued investment in Great Stirrup Cay has been the creation of a brand-new luxury beachfront area called Silver Cove. Whilst not exclusively for Haven and Suite guests, Silver Cove features 38 private, fully air-conditioned villas, each featuring a daybed, armchairs and an outdoor patio with lounge seating as well as a full bathroom. Guests renting a villa at Silver Cove will benefit from access to a private beach and the dedicated Silver Cove Restaurant and Bar.
