Singer Nicole Scherzinger has been chosen as the godmother and new entertainment partner of P&O Cruises‘ newest ship, Arvia. The multi-award-winning, multi-platinum-selling singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, TV personality and Pussycat Dolls’ lead singer and judge on The X Factor are what she is best known for. On March 16, she will take part in the naming of the ship in the Caribbean.
What will Nicole Sherzinger do in her new role?
Previous P&O Cruises ships’ Godmothers have been Dame Irene Hays, Dame Kelly Holmes and Dame Helen Mirren, Scherzinger follows in the footsteps of these.
As part of a special partnership, Nicole will create spectacular music and dance extravaganzas to be performed on board P&O Cruises ships. Nicole will also sing live and officially name Arvia at the beachside ceremony in Barbados, which will be broadcast around the world on the P&O Cruises YouTube channel on Thursday 16 March 2023 at 7pm GMT.

The ceremony will be broadcast live and will include a performance from Olly Murs as well as Nicole’s striking show finale. Scherzinger said: “I have always felt as though I am honorary Brit and to be asked to name Arvia in Barbados really is the icing on the cake and I cannot wait to perform my godmother duties in the most beautiful of Caribbean locations.”
Where is Arvia now and what itineraries will she be doing?
Arvia entered service on December 23 and is currently sailing in the Caribbean, homeporting in Antigua and Barbuda until March 11. Following the naming ceremony, Arvia will then reposition as she begins a transatlantic journey to Southampton on the 18th of March where she will undergo round-trip Mediterranean itineraries until the 27th of October when she will make her way back to the Caribbean from Southampton. The 5,200-passenger vessel is the second in the fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
