Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s largest city is known for its history, which includes the Liberty Bell, and Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed in 1776. This beautiful city attracts over 42.9 million tourists in 2022 who enjoy its culture, history, arts, and seafaring history.

When is the best time to cruise from Philadelphia?

Cruises from Philadelphia are usually popular during the summer months, from April to October when the weather is warm and ideal for exploring the historic city. This period allows visitors to enjoy the warm climate, indulge in outdoor activities, and soak up the lively atmosphere of the city.

Which cruise lines sail from Philadelphia?

Starting in 2026 Norwegian Cruise Line will be heading back to Philadelphia to be the first major cruise line to base a ship in the city for some time. The ship that will be located in port will be the small and friendly intimate ship, Norwegian Jewel.

Where do cruises from Philadelphia go to?

Norwegian Jewel will be sailing on a variety of voyages when she arrives in Philadelphia from an 11-day Tampa Stay & All-Inclusive Caribbean to Philadelphia with Stay. She then will be completing an incredible a round-Trip around Philadelphia calling at The Royal Naval Dockyard overnight. The dockyard was the principal base of the Royal Navy in the Western Atlantic during the Cold War. Sailing on she will then dock into Charleston which offers a delicious Southern fare and a lively culinary scene.

She will also be sailing around Canada & New England from Philadelphia to Quebec City. With our Paramount Package, you will have a 2-night pre-cruise stay in Philadelphia before your 11-night all-inclusive cruise with some great ports of call including Halifax which has one of the largest and deepest ice-free natural harbours in the world! You will also be porting to Quebec City where you will also end your unforgettable Voyage, it is known for its rich history, cobblestone streets, European architecture and fortifications. You will then fly to Toronto for a 3-night post-cruise stay with a full-day guided Niagara Falls Tour!

What should you do whilst you’re in Philadelphia?

There are so many things to do whilst in this fabulous city, so we have narrowed down the best things we think you should do!

If you are a massive Rocky fan then you must head to the Art Museum steps and visit the Rocky steps and Rocky Statue which was originally created for Rocky III. Did you know that the Rocky Steps is where a scene of the movie was filmed! So you must visit the museum and take a selfie with the Rocky Statue! For those looking to learn about the city’s past, you must head down to The Independence National Historical Park which is recognised as the birthplace of American democracy! As you will be visiting Philadelphia during the summer months you must visit The Oval which is an acre seasonal outdoor venue that transforms into a pop-up arena with giant games of Connect Four, chess and even daily community activities and events.

Head down to Franklin Square which has a family-friendly 18-hole miniature golf course decorated with several of Philadelphia’s favourite icons where the family can play a round of crazy golf and also learn a little bit of the history around Philadelphia. For those who love seeing historic buildings then why not take a guided tour of The Eastern State Penitentiary which used to be home to some of America’s most notorious mobsters such as bank robber Willie Sutton and infamous gangster Al Capone. Throughout the tour, you will have a good insight into how prison life was back then.

Whilst in Philadelphia those with a sweet tooth must visit Shane Confectionery which is well known and loved in the city as it is the oldest producer of candy. When walking into the shop you will be taken back in time as the staff are dressed in period clothing to remind customers that the shop has been trading since 1863. The Adventure Aquarium is a visit, discover life underwater with features of unusual exhibits including sharks, hippos, turtles, stingrays and many more interesting aquatic individuals. To carry on with your animal adventure visit The Philadelphia Zoo with some incredible things to do from the world’s first children’s zoo and an animal exploration trail campus with see-through mesh trails allowing animals to roam above and around the zoo grounds.

Extend your stay?

Are you enjoying Philadelphia way too much and do not want to end your incredible getaway? Then why not extend your stay and admire more of the history or discover some of its amazing neighbouring destinations. Add on a stay in New York, famously known as The Big Apple, which can easily be reached via train or bus, where you can explore the city that never sleeps. New York has so much to offer from famous landmarks, iconic art museums, and parks, or the mouthwatering food, you will discover something new every day you explore the exciting city.
