Cruise holidays are booming in the UK, with more travellers than ever searching for the best cruise ships, new itineraries, and unique experiences at sea. In response to this growing demand, Paramount Cruises has launched a nationwide search for the UK’s first Chief Cruise Tester.
The cruise industry is well known for appointing celebrity godparents to launch its newest ships. Royal Caribbean welcomed Lionel Messi as the godparent of Icon of the Seas, while Norwegian Cruise Line announced actor Eric Stonestreet as the godfather of Norwegian Aqua.
But at Paramount Cruises, specialists in helping travellers explore cruise destinations around the world, we believe the real cruise experts are not celebrities. They are everyday cruisers.
With a wave of new cruise ships entering service in 2026, including highly anticipated vessels across multiple cruise lines, travellers are increasingly looking for honest insights into the best cruise holidays and onboard experiences.
The search for the UK’s biggest cruise fan
Because of this, Paramount Cruises has announced a nationwide search for the UK’s biggest cruise fan.
The winner will become the company’s first Chief Cruise Tester.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Paramount Cruises team to review some of the best new cruise ships in 2026. They will experience onboard attractions, dining, and entertainment, and report back on the best cruise holidays from the UK and beyond.
Naturally, the role comes with a number of responsibilities. These include braving the Aqua Slide coaster on Norwegian Aqua and exploring the entertainment and dining on Celebrity Cruises.
Other duties include sampling Holland America Line’s famous fresh baked cookies and relaxing at The Beach Club at Bimini with Virgin Voyages, one of the most sought after private island cruise destinations in the Caribbean.
The Chief Cruise Tester will also help settle one of cruising’s biggest debates. Is Disney’s Castaway Cay really better than Perfect Day at CocoCay?
Additional duties may include investigating late night buffet strategy, determining the best deck for sunset views, and assessing how many desserts can reasonably be enjoyed during a single cruise dinner.
“We constantly explore cruise holidays to ensure we recommend the very best experiences to our clients. With so many incredible ships and destinations now available, we realised we might need a little extra help. The Chief Cruise Tester role is perfect for someone who truly loves cruising and wants to experience everything the industry has to offer”.
– Patrick Hill, Head of Paramount Cruises
Applicants will need a strong passion for cruise holidays, an eye for detail, and the ability to judge buffet strategy with expert precision.
Think you have what it takes to become the UK’s biggest cruise fan?
