Celebrity Cruises have announced that 19-time World Champion and seven-time Olympic Medallist, American gymnast, Simone Biles, will soon add another very special title to her decorated career as she becomes the official godmother of their newest ship, Celebrity Beyond.
We were recently onboard as Celebrity Beyond made her debut in Southampton ahead of a Summer season in the Mediterranean, where she will homeport in Barcelona. Following her maiden Mediterranean season, Celebrity Beyond will reposition to North America, and on the 4th of November, Simone Biles, in her role as godmother, will name the ship at the official ceremony which is due to be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
It’s no surprise that Celebrity Cruises have chosen Simone Biles to serve as godmother to Celebrity Beyond, in fact for its groundbreaking Edge Series ships, Celebrity has been consistent in selecting equally transformational and courageous godmothers who are breaking barriers and championing change in their respective fields. Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai serves as godmother to Celebrity Edge, whilst Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code and the Marshall Plan for Moms, is the official godmother of sister ship Celebrity Apex.
