Welcome to Harvest Caye, a 75-acre island oasis located five miles off the shore of Placencia in southern Belize. Harvest Caye welcomed its first-ever cruise ship back in November 2016 and it has been a popular port of call on Western Caribbean itineraries ever since. Norwegian Cruise Line worked alongside the government of Belize in order to create an island which would preserve the area’s natural beauty and give back to the local economy, in fact you’ll find a variety of locally-owned shops and restaurants on Harvest Caye.
What are the highlights of Harvest Caye?
It would be easy to spend your day in the 15,000-square-foot swimming pool; with its swim up bar, you don’t even need to get out if you want to quench your thirst with an ice-cold beer. For those looking to experience Belize’s incredibly diverse marine life, grab a snorkel and jump into the turquoise blue waters to explore the world’s second largest barrier reef.
If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush then head to The Flighthouse, an impressive 136-foot high venue complete with a 3,000-foot zipline across the island. If you’re not that brave and just looking to snap that Insta-worthy picture, it’s still well worth the climb as the observation deck offers spectacular views of the mainland.
Is food available at Harvest Caye?
Along the marina, you’ll find a diverse restaurant and bar selection, as well as a shopping village. Food isn’t included as part of your cruise fare however you’re free to return to the ship if you fancy a bite to eat back onboard.
Can I use my drinks package at Harvest Caye?
Harvest Caye is regarded just like any other port of call so unfortunately you will not be able to make use of your drinks packages whilst on the island. The large marina has a variety of food and drink outlets or you’re of course free to return to the ship as and when you please.
Is there an exclusive area for Haven guests?
Unlike on Norwegian Cruise Line’s other private island, Great Stirrup Cay, there is currently no exclusive area for Haven or Suite guests. If you’re looking for an extra slice of luxury, all guests can rent one of the luxurious beachside cabanas. These can accommodate up to 6 guests and include exclusive food and beverage service, as well as lounge chairs, private bathrooms and air conditioning.
