Welcome to Half Moon Cay, Holland America’s private island destination in the Bahamas. Little San Salvador – as the island was known before being purchased by Holland America – has a rich history, with some even claiming that Christopher Columbus landed here on his voyage of discovery to the New World. Nowadays it has been transformed into a pristine, award-winning, private island, and has been welcoming cruise passengers for the last two decades.
What are the highlights of Half Moon Cay?
If you’re looking for perfect, powdery white sand and crystalline waters you’ve come to the right place. Half Moon Cay features the finest beaches in the Caribbean as well as a natural 700-acre lagoon. There’s even a chapel for weddings or vowel renewals for those looking for that picture-perfect romantic ceremony in the Caribbean.
One of the highlights of a day on Half Moon Cay has to be the horseback riding excursion. You’ll ride along the winding trails amongst the island’s lush vegetation before returning back to the bay for the ultimate adventure – riding a horse while it’s swimming in the water. It’s a pretty special experience.
