We are growing ever closer to the maiden voyage of Carnival‘s brand new ship, Carnival Celebration the sister ship to Mardi Gras. The name ‘Celebration’ is a recognition of Carnival‘s 50th birthday celebrations and a throwback to one of the popular early ships in the Carnival fleet.

Satisfactory for guests of all ages, this exceptional ship blends classic Carnival cruise line features and innovative onboard facilities which can keep the whole family entertained. From the largest retail selection to one of the only roller coasters at sea, not to mention the never-ending restaurants available onboard to try something new every night.

When does Carnival Celebration set sail?

Carnival Celebration is 180,000 gross tons and will carry 6,500 passengers at full capacity, with 1,735 crew. She has completed her sea trials in the baltic sea a full contingent of officers, technicians, and engineers were on board to test the ship’s technical, mechanical, and navigational systems. The ship will set sail for her maiden voyage on November 6, 2022, on a one-off transatlantic crossing from Southampton to Miami.

Where will the ships’ Itineraries be based?

Other than her one-off maiden voyage from Southampton Carnival Celebration will be based out of Miami her home port and will be delivering Caribbean itineraries. She will offer five, six, seven, and eight-day cruises from Miami to Eastern, Western, and Southern Caribbean itineraries. Looking to sail on this wonderful ship but not sure which itinerary to choose? To find out which Caribbean itinerary is best suited for you, take a look at our blog here.

What are the innovative highlights of the Carnival Celebration vessel?

There will be a number of different themed zones onboard Carnival Celebration similar to her sister ship Mardi Gras, most of the zones are the same although no two ships can be the same and therefore Carnival Celebration will host its own unique areas, features, bars, and lounges.

The ship will have a brand new zone unique to Carnival Celebration called The Gateway. This zone will house a number of new experiences, including a bar and lounge called latitudes that will have an old-school, split-flap departures board showcasing messages and daily drink specials.

Also being offered in the new Gateway area is the second seagoing restaurant by Emeril Lagasse, known as Emeril’s Bistro 1397 named for the official hull number for Carnival Celebration. This restaurant’s menu will host a wide range of popular favourites developed for Lagasse’s restaurant aboard Mardi Gras, as well as offering international cuisines for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The Gateway zone will also offer additional dining, entertainment and shopping areas, emphasised by 12-high definition multimedia “windows” offering unique scenes. Complimenting the area as a destination in its own right there will be a 100-foot LED ceiling, state-of-the-art sound system and show-style lighting.

Carnival Celebration will be the second cruise ship in the world to host the first-ever roller coaster at sea called ‘BOLT‘ Mardi Gras also has a BOLT roller coaster and was the first ship to ever host a roller coaster at sea. You can read more about BOLT the first-ever roller coaster at sea in our blog here.

Expect to find exciting outdoor innovations fun for all the family like Carnival’s WaterWorks, an outdoor sports and activity area, mini-golf putting, and Serenity, Carnival’s adults-only, top-deck enclave featuring loungers, hot tubs and an outdoor bar area.

Another new addition to Carnival Celebration is the Golden Jubilee lounge, the lounge will display a throwback to Carnival’s rich, 50-year maritime history, complete with artefacts and design motifs culled from past Carnival cruise ships throughout the decades.

Carnival cruise ships have always been known for their great Entertainment which has been the cruise line’s strong suit, this great entertainment will be continued aboard Carnival Celebration.

The ship will also include old Carnival favourites like Piano Bar 88, a hopping staple of any Carnival ship as well as the return of the Punchliner Comedy Club, along with various new, features which have not been revealed yet.

Will Carnival Celebration be Eco-Friendly?

Carnival Celebration will follow in her sister ship Mardi Gras’ footsteps in many different ways including the fact that the vessel will be powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). These two ships are the first and only two Carnival vessels that are LNG powered, Carnival being the first cruise line to bring eco-friendly LNG fuel to North America.

Carnival has embarked on a sustainable and environmental journey where creating their newest ships to use LNG is a big part of the cruise lines’ efforts to reduce energy consumption and emissions.

Carnival Celebration also has other advanced technological features including advanced wastewater treatment and air quality systems, shore power connection capabilities, and comprehensive waste management, recycling and energy conservation programs.

Book your next cruise on Carnival Celebration and discover the joys of 21st-century ocean voyaging!
