Explora Journeys – The first in four best-in-class luxury ships

Explora Journeys, the new luxury lifestyle cruise ship brand launched by MSC Cruises is releasing its first 4 brand new ships over the next 4 years, starting with Explora I which is setting sail in 2023. The luxurious cruise brand will create luxury ‘journeys’ instead of ordinary ‘cruises’ for its customers.

The 4 cruise ships being rolled out by the Explora Journeys luxury cruise brand over the next 4 years are the following:

  • Explora I setting sail in 2023
  • Explora II setting sail in 2024
  • Explora III setting sail in 2025
  • Explora IV setting sail in 2026
Explora I

Where were the cruise ships built?

The Explora Journeys cruise ships were built by Fincantieri, an Italian shipbuilding company based in Trieste, Italy. Fincantieri also builds the MSC Cruises ships here in true Italian style. The Explora Journeys ships all include oceanfront suites, generous outdoor decks, holistic wellness and fitness, nine distinct inclusive dining experiences, numerous different lounging and entertainment options, and the latest environmental supporting technologies.

Explora I – Suites

All of the ships will offer breath-taking suites with modern decor and innovative technologies and furniture. The types of oceanfront suites that Explora I will have are, 1 Owner’s Residence, 22 Ocean Residences, 67 Ocean Penthouses, 371 Ocean Suites and 82 multi-gen-friendly connecting suites.

The suites will feature private terraces that are among the biggest in the luxury cruise sector, they will have big floor-to-ceiling windows with sophisticated and classy interiors. The suites will also feature an expansive walk-in wardrobe with a seated vanity area. On board Explora I there are nine inclusive distinct dining experiences based on healthy and delicious food from local, sustainable sources.

Onboard Facilities of Explora I

There are several indoor and outdoor lounges and bars for you to sit back and relax in with a refreshing cocktail in hand. You’ll be able to test out the curated entertainment and intimate performances in the lounges and bars on board. On board, you will also find a casino, art gallery, and plenty of innovative shopping experiences.

The wonderful Explora I has so many places to relax on offer, if you fancy a refreshing dip there are three outdoor pools including one adults-only and one indoor pool with a retractable glass roof meaning that you will be covered for all types of weather.

There are also 64 private cabanas where you can take in the lovely ocean views and watch the world go by, don’t forget about the variety of different whirlpools available for you to unwind in. On Explora there is also poolside dining on offer, meaning that you won’t need to go very far to get your lunch so that minimum disruption is caused to your precious time relaxing by one of the pools, you will be able to have your lunch brought to you in true luxury style.

Not only are there many places on board where you can relax and unwind but you can be sure that there is also a wide range of holistic wellness and fitness available for you, so you don’t have to worry about doing your hair or burning off those holiday calories whilst away.

There is a beauty salon on board waiting to spoil you with luxurious treatments as well as a fitness studio for group or personal training sessions, a panoramic running track, over 270 sqm (2,900 sq ft) of fitness facilities with the latest equipment and if you fancy a fun game of tennis or basketball there is a sports Court for touch tennis and half basketball.

There is a deluxe spacious thermal area along with nine treatment rooms ready to pamper you with so many treatments on offer it will be hard to decide which ones to go with. Overall there is 700 sqm (7,500 sq ft) of indoor and outdoor wellness facilities on board the Explora I, something for all occasions.

Latest Environmental Supporting Technologies

One of the main concepts of Explora Journey’s new luxury cruise brand is to be more environmentally friendly and you won’t be disappointed by the latest environmental supporting technologies that are featured on board Explora I including the following:

  • Hybrid-ready energy solutions
  • Waste-management and energy-saving solutions
  • No single-plastic used onboard and ashore

Top-End Culinary Dining Experiences Onboard

You won’t want to miss out on the spectacular dining experiences on this ship, with the cuisine on board covering all corners of the globe you will never get bored of the different foods on offer. There are nine culinary experiences as well as in-suite dining if you fancy making the most out of the views from your cabin balcony. You will discover – each experience distinct and every one created to celebrate global cooking talents, provenance, and wholesome ingredients sourced by local partners.
