Virgin Voyages’ RockStar Quarters are the line’s suite-class accommodation, an upgrade from the standard cabin that adds private spaces, premium service and (in the Mega RockStar tier) substantially more inclusive Bar Tab credit. The decision turns on three things: how much you would use Richard’s Rooftop and the other RockStar-only areas, whether the larger cabin layout matters more to you than the included Bar Tab credit, and whether the Mega RockStar upgrade pays back on a longer voyage.
This guide walks through the maths. For the full RockStar inclusions list see our Virgin Voyages RockStar Quarters page. For sailings, Virgin Voyages lists every voyage we hold.

30-second view: standard, RockStar or Mega RockStar?
| You typically… | Cabin tier worth booking |

| Want a larger cabin and access to Richard’s Rooftop | RockStar Quarters |
| Want unlimited drinks and full premium service | Mega RockStar Quarters |
| Sail 7+ nights with significant time on board | RockStar or Mega RockStar (the private areas pay back) |
| Sail 3-5 nights port-intensive | Standard cabin (the upgrade rarely pays back on short cruises) |
What is included in RockStar Quarters
RockStar Quarters cover all the standard Virgin Voyages fare inclusions (20+ dining venues, basic drinks, Wi-Fi, gratuities, group fitness) and add five further benefits:
Larger cabin with premium finish, with categories ranging from Cheeky Corner Suite up to Massive Suite. The footprint is meaningfully bigger than a standard Sea Terrace.
Richard’s Rooftop: a RockStar-only outdoor lounge, named after Richard Branson, with sweeping views, complimentary Champagne moments, and a calmer atmosphere than the main pool decks.
RockStar Agent: a personal contact who helps with bookings, restaurant reservations and onboard requests.
Priority embarkation and disembarkation, faster turnaround at the start and end of the voyage.
In-suite extras including premium toiletries, an espresso machine and a more curated minibar.
Mega RockStar Quarters: the upgrade
Mega RockStar is the higher tier within the RockStar tier. It includes everything in RockStar plus more substantial inclusions:
Premium Bar Tab credit at a meaningfully higher level than RockStar, often covering drinks across the voyage without needing to top up.
Multi-bedroom and split-level Mega Suites, including the Massive Suite with private terrace, hot tub and dedicated dining area.
Personal Stylist service and priority access to the Beach Club at Bimini on Caribbean sailings.
When the upgrade is worth buying
RockStar Quarters are good value on sailings of 5 nights or more where you would value a quieter outdoor space (Richard’s Rooftop is the standout draw), a meaningfully larger cabin, and the RockStar Agent service. On shorter cruises the private areas get less use and the maths is harder to justify.
Mega RockStar is worth the extra step on longer voyages where the Bar Tab differential covers the gap, or on sailings where the larger cabin layouts (multi-bedroom Mega Suites) matter for the travelling party. On a 3-5 night Caribbean trip, the standard RockStar tier usually delivers similar value at a lower price.
Skip the upgrade entirely if you would spend most of the voyage in shared spaces like The Manor, on the main pool deck or at the dining venues. The Virgin Voyages standard cabin is already well-specified for the price.
RockStar Quarters is where Virgin’s adults-only proposition really delivers. You get a private hot tub on the terrace, a dedicated runner who books your reservations, and priority access to everything onboard. The Mega RockStar level adds top-shelf spirits and Champagne. Worth the upgrade on 7-night and longer sailings when you’ll actually use the perks.
