Virgin Voyages Announces New Sailing Club Loyalty Programme (April 2024)

Update (April 2026): In April 2024, Virgin Voyages launched its first loyalty programme: the Virgin Voyages Sailing Club. Until then, the adults-only cruise line had no tiered rewards scheme. So this was a major shift. The launch also opened a short status match window for members of rival programmes. Below, we recap what went live and flag what has changed since.

What was announced in April 2024

Virgin Voyages unveiled the Sailing Club as a three-tier programme. It rewards repeat Sailors with onboard perks, priority access, and sailing credits. Tier placement depends on completed voyages. Benefits then apply automatically from your next booking. The line pitched it as a relaxed take on cruise loyalty. For example, there are no points to chase and no tricky expiry rules. Instead, perks scale with genuine repeat custom.

The three tiers at launch

First, Sailing Club Member is the entry tier. Sailors join after their first completed voyage. Perks focus on recognition and a welcome-back gesture onboard. Next, Blue Extras sits in the middle. It unlocks more generous sailing credits and priority on selected services. Finally, Deep Blue Extras is the top tier. It adds the largest credits, stronger priority, and a few signature experiences for loyal Sailors.

The status match programme (now closed)

Alongside the launch, Virgin Voyages opened a status match window. It invited loyal members of rival cruise lines to carry their tier across. Eligible programmes included Royal Caribbean Diamond Plus and Pinnacle. Celebrity Elite and above also qualified. In addition, equivalent tiers from Carnival, MSC, and Norwegian made the list. Early references to “Sea-Blazers” and 2025 qualifying voyages applied only during that launch window.

Importantly, the status match programme closed on 28 February 2026. It no longer accepts new applications. Today, Sailors only join the Sailing Club by completing Virgin Voyages sailings.

Why the launch mattered

The Sailing Club filled a clear gap in Virgin Voyages’ offer. Until 2024, loyal guests had no way to earn rewards. The line’s four ships carry repeat Sailors across the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Australia, and the Ligurian coast. Those ships are the Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, Resilient Lady, and Brilliant Lady. Yet for years, none of them offered tier recognition. Now, repeat Sailors get the credit they deserve. As a result, Virgin Voyages matched what rivals already offered. At the same time, the line kept its trademark informality.

Virgin Voyages has refined tier benefits and qualifying criteria since launch. So, for the latest details, head to our Virgin Voyages Sailing Club guide. It covers current perks, eligibility, and how to get the most from your tier.
