The newest and most luxurious Cruise ship from the Regent Seven Seas Cruise fleet, Seven Seas Splendor, is featured in a brand new 8-part behind-the-scenes documentary series on Channel 5. The documentary is called Secrets of the World’s most expensive cruise ship. The first episode launched on Friday (Jan 27th) and all episodes are available on catch-up on MY5 followed by a new episode every Friday for the next 5 weeks.

What is the documentary about?

The documentary includes all things behind the scenes of Seven Seas Splendor and follows the luxury ship’s passengers and crew, with high luxury comes high pressure as we go behind the scenes to meet the staff who must deliver exquisite service to make sure that every guest’s stay is perfect.

The documentary follows Splendor on its inaugural northern Europe season from Iceland to Norway, through the Norwegian Fjords, to Finland, Estonia and Copenhagen followed by the Mediterranean.

From the entertainment crew, the food and drinks team, the excursion organizers and housekeeping, everyone in the 567-person crew is under pressure to provide an impeccable level of service for their guests

Every episode is different and has a particular topic and challenges that the crew must overcome, such as how to handle an unplanned sea day or what it takes to successfully renew vows at sea, among other things. Other themes in the series range from a heated Lobster Thermidor vs. Beef Wellington competition in the galley to a Spanish night with 48 distinct dishes and a show-stopping paella.

In the series, Executive Sous Chef Kamlesh Koonjee will also direct his crew in preparing a special selection of 240 canapes for the glitzy 30th-anniversary party and converting the pool deck in Stockholm into an outdoor BBQ in an effort to fend off the weather.

SPOILER ALERT: What were the first two episodes about?

The first episode features a brand new Social hostess, Lizzie trying to make a good impression and the 6-star floating hotel makes its way into stormy waters meaning the crew has to come up with an impromptu plan to keep the passengers entertained. The second episode was aired on Friday 3rd February and featured The Splendor travelling through the fjord lands of Scandinavia as well as more hurdles for the crew to face.

What does Regent Seven Seas have to say about the documentary?

“We’re delighted to see Seven Seas Splendor returning to our TV screens again this Friday on Channel 5. The new eight-part series will give viewers at home a behind the scenes look at everything that goes into delivering an unrivalled experience on board the world’s most expensive cruise ship. Our crew go above and beyond for our guests so being able to put them front and centre of this series has been a real pleasure.”

Caroline Smith, Managing Director, International Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Behind The Scenes Of Seven Seas Splendor’s Bridge

Seven Seas Splendor is host to Broadway choreographer Patti Willcox as she heads on board to check the cast production of Diamond Run is up to scratch. The series will also follow a new entertainment team as they undergo extensive onboard training ahead of their debut show Crossroads.

While the Splendor makes its maiden port of call in Gibraltar, Social Hostess Annabel Gascoyne also has the significant duty of giving a guided tour to local dignitaries there.

Viewers will get an inside peek at the Navigational Bridge as Captain Felice Patruno, who has more than 40 years of seafaring experience, gives over command to new Captain Luciano Montesanto, who takes command of the ship in Bergen, Norway and also makes his Captain’s Welcome debut.

A little bit about Regent Seven Seas Splendor

The Seven Seas Splendor joined the Regent fleet in February 2020 and features the Regent Seven Seas suite in addition to five delicious dining options, three bars, and lounges. a designer jewellery boutique, a luxury spa and over four million pounds worth of art lining the walls.

At least one shore excursion in every port is included on Seven Seas Splendor. Passengers can typically choose from several free options in each port that range from short two-hour trips to all-day excursions, though most last four to five hours.
