Norwegian Cruise Line Solo Cruising
Solo Cruising with Norwegian Cruise Line - Studio Staterooms and No Single Supplement
Norwegian Cruise Line was the first cruise line to design staterooms and social spaces specifically for solo travellers. Studio Staterooms are priced for single occupancy with no supplement to pay, and they come with private keycard access to the Studio Lounge, a dedicated space reserved exclusively for solo guests. Available across all 19 ships on 2026, 2027 and 2028 sailings, it is one of the most well-considered solo travel products in mainstream cruising.

Cabins with No Single Supplement
Studio Staterooms
Solo cruise passengers have traditionally faced a significant cost penalty: most cruise lines charge a single supplement of between 75% and 100%, meaning solo travellers effectively pay for two people to travel alone. Norwegian Cruise Line removes this barrier on its Studio and Solo staterooms, which are priced at single-occupancy rates from the outset. No supplement, no penalty for travelling solo. It is one of the most straightforward commitments any cruise line makes to solo travellers.

From Inside to Balcony
Four Solo Stateroom Categories
Norwegian's Studio Staterooms were purpose-built for the solo traveller, and since January 2024 the range has expanded to four categories across all 19 ships in the fleet. The original Studio is a well-designed inside cabin, joined now by Solo Inside, Solo Oceanview and Solo Balcony options, with the balcony category giving solo guests their own private outdoor space at a price that reflects single occupancy. All Studio categories include keycard access to the Studio Lounge, reserved exclusively for solo guests.

A Private Social Space for Solo Guests
The Studio Lounge
The Studio Lounge is a private social space on NCL ships reserved exclusively for guests booked into Studio and Solo staterooms. Access is by keycard, so it remains a genuinely solo-only space throughout the sailing. Inside, guests can enjoy complimentary coffee and espresso, snacks throughout the day and a relaxed lounge setting with a large-screen TV. It is a natural gathering point to meet fellow solo travellers, swap destination tips or simply unwind away from the busier parts of the ship.

Meet-Ups, Activities and Solo Social Events
Cruising Solo
Cruising solo with Norwegian does not have to mean spending evenings alone. Ships host dedicated meet-ups for solo travellers, giving guests a ready-made way to connect with others at sea. Some sailings include pub crawls and a Friends of Dorothy social hour. Beyond the organised events, solo guests can join ropes courses, climbing walls, spa days, Broadway-style shows and shore excursions, all of which provide a natural way to meet other guests and make the most of every port and sea day.

Full Package Value for One
Free at Sea
Free at Sea is available across Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet, including eligible bookings in Studio and Solo staterooms. As a solo guest, you pay one package upgrade charge and receive benefits for the full voyage, including an unlimited open bar, speciality dining meals, 150 minutes of Starlink Wi-Fi and shore excursion credit. With Solo Inside, Oceanview and Balcony accommodation available on selected ships, NCL makes it easier to enjoy a well-equipped cruise without paying for a second guest.
