Norwegian Cruise Line - Great Stirrup Cay

Norwegian Cruise Line ships now dock directly at Great Stirrup Cay, thanks to the new purpose-built pier that opened as part of the island's $150 million transformation. No tender boats, no waiting at anchor. Guests simply walk off the ship and step straight onto the island, gaining more time to enjoy everything on offer. A new island-wide tram service runs from the pier to all areas of the island, making it easy to explore without a long walk. The pier is designed to accommodate two large NCL vessels simultaneously, so even busy sailings move smoothly from ship to shore and the island day begins right away.

At the heart of the new Great Stirrup Cay is the Great Life Lagoon, a 2,600 square metre heated oceanfront pool designed for guests of all ages. A beach-style entry lets younger children ease in gradually, while adults can head straight to the swim-up bars and order a round without leaving the water. The lagoon includes a dedicated children's splash area, plush sunloungers, umbrellas and poolside cabanas available to rent for families and groups. With Free at Sea, drinks at both swim-up bars are covered by your beverage package, so there is no need to step away from the water to get the next round in.

The Great Tides Waterpark opens on 4 September 2026 and spans nearly six acres of slides, cliff jumps, a winding river and a kids' zone. At the centre stands the 170-foot Tidal Tower, home to the Breakwater Blasters, an industry-first water coaster combining downhill drops with uphill blasts inside an inner tube, alongside body slides, mat racers and tube slides. Cliffside Cove features the cruise industry's first cliff jumps at 10 and 15 feet. The Great Slide is the Caribbean's only four-person body slide, while the Wandering River offers an 800-foot high-energy take on a traditional lazy river. The Grotto Bar sits beneath the tower for drinks between rides.

The Vibe Shore Club is a private, adults-only retreat for guests aged 18 and over, bringing Norwegian's popular onboard experience ashore. This dedicated area offers plush sunloungers, a curated beach playlist and ocean views in every direction, away from the main island activity. A private bar serves premium cocktails, and light refreshments including fruit skewers, cookies and ice cream are available throughout the day. Day passes are available to purchase in advance, with upgraded loungers and umbrellas included. Private villas within the Vibe Shore Club can also be rented for a more spacious, shaded experience. Admission is paid separately and is not included in the cruise fare.

Horizon Park is Great Stirrup Cay's complimentary games and activity area, offering pickleball courts, mini golf and a range of lawn games for guests of all ages. Whether you are looking for friendly competition or simply a way to fill a quiet hour before lunch, the park is open to all guests with no reservation required. Hammock Bay sits alongside as a more relaxed alternative, with shaded hammocks strung between the palms and ocean views in every direction. It is the perfect place to read a book, listen to the breeze and let the morning drift by. Both areas are complimentary and a short tram ride from the pier.

The new Welcome Plaza is the first thing guests see after walking off the pier, and it sets the tone for the island day ahead. A shaded arrival area provides a comfortable starting point before guests head off to explore, and the overlook bridge rises 12 metres above the ocean for some of the best views on the island. From the Welcome Plaza, all areas of Great Stirrup Cay are accessible on foot or via the complimentary tram service. The bridge is a natural stopping point for photos, with panoramic views of the Bahamian coastline stretching in both directions and the ship clearly visible just beyond. It is the ideal place to get your bearings before the day begins.

Splash Harbour is the island's dedicated children's water play area, now open and complimentary for all guests. Covering over 3,400 square feet, it is a vibrant splash pad filled with interactive fountains, water jets and aquatic play features designed to keep younger guests entertained throughout the day. A shaded refreshment lounge sits right alongside, serving kid-friendly drinks as well as adult favourites, so parents can relax comfortably nearby while the children play. Splash Harbour is positioned just steps from the Great Life Lagoon, making it easy for families to move between the pool and the splash pad as the day unfolds.

Great Stirrup Cay offers a range of complimentary dining venues serving island-inspired food throughout the day. Jumbey Beach Grill is the main dining spot, serving barbecue, salads, pizza and desserts. The Tropic Like It's Hot food truck offers fresh island bites including fish and pork sandwiches, while Abaco Taco serves fish, chicken and beef tacos. A beach buffet with a pizza station and a full selection of hot and cold food is also included in your cruise fare. On the drinks side, Bacardi Bar, Patron Bar, Bertram's Bar and the swim-up bars at the Great Life Lagoon are all covered by your Free at Sea beverage package within the usual limits.

If you have booked with the Free at Sea beverage package, it applies across the entire island, including every bar and both swim-up bars at the Great Life Lagoon. Guests with Free at Sea Plus also enjoy unlimited open bar access throughout their island day. Your $50 shore excursion credit per cabin can be applied to optional paid activities at Great Stirrup Cay, including snorkelling trips and the swim-with-pigs experience at nearby Treasure Island. Day passes for the Great Tides Waterpark, Vibe Shore Club access and Silver Cove villa rentals are paid separately and are not covered by Free at Sea or the standard cruise fare.

Great Stirrup Cay has three beaches where guests can settle in with complimentary loungers and umbrellas. The waters are warm, clear and well-suited to swimming and snorkelling, with an underwater sculpture garden accessible just offshore. Watersports including kayaking, paddleboarding and electric float boat hire are available from the saltwater lagoon, and the Flighthouse zip line offers a bird's eye view of the entire island. Horizon Park, the island's complimentary games area, features pickleball courts, mini golf and lawn games. Optional shore excursions, including swimming with pigs at nearby Treasure Island, depart from the island.
