Singapore is one place you’ll never be bored. Crowned as the most expensive city in the world, this spectacular Southeast Asian jewel is one of diversity, boasting its fair share of local culture, contemporary architecture, international cuisine and world-class attractions – so you can expect an itinerary overflowing with exciting things to experience during your time here.

From artsy galleries to beautiful botanical gardens and plenty of history to uncover at the many awe-inspiring temples, there’s something for everyone to discover in this city – no matter what time of year you visit. Singapore is a year-round destination, however, we recommend that the best time to visit (if you want to tick off the major sights) is between December and June, with February to April being the most popular window during the city’s dry season, meaning little rain, low humidity, yet plenty of glorious sunshine.

When is the best time to cruise from Singapore?

The most suitable time to cruise from Singapore is between December and April, when the summer heat begins to cool down and the weather isn’t as humid. You won’t be needing your jacket though, as the temperatures may be cooler but still hover around a toasty 23°C and 29°C in the evening.

Which cruise lines sail from Singapore?

There are a few different cruise ships that head out from Singapore, including Celebrity Cruises, Azamara, Holland America, NCL, Princess Cruises and Cunard, to name a few. The Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore is one of the largest and most unique cruise terminals in Asia, making it a spectacle in itself (like everything else in this futuristic city) – so be sure to explore it before hopping on your cruise ship.

Where do cruises from Singapore go to?

There’s a host of spectacular destinations you can explore on a cruise out of Singapore, whether you want to discover Asia’s neighbouring jewels or travel a little further afield. Short escapes will whisk you off to destinations such as Malaysia and Phuket, where you can explore Southeast Asia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Japan. In it for the long haul? Some cruises will head to Indonesia and even Australia, where you can travel to the ports of Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide or Brisbane.

What should you do whilst you’re in Singapore?

We hope you’ve packed your walking shoes, because despite Singapore’s small size it’s bursting with extraordinary things to see and do – so be sure to have your itinerary to hand! The city is partial to world-class rated attractions, with accolades including the largest rooftop infinity pool, the world’s first safari park for nocturnal animals, an extravaganza for an airport, and its awe-inspiring Gardens By the Bay feature. Speaking of which, this hugely popular tourist attraction should be at the top of your list – existing as an innovative space that stretches over 101 hectares, Gardens By the Bay is an urban garden slap bang in the heart of the bustling city centre. Included in its futuristic design are a handful of iconic Supertrees – a vertical garden spectacle that lights up at night – while you can also admire the Cloud Forest for its cascading waterfall, and the largest glass greenhouse in the world at the tropical Flower Dome. Of course, it would be rude not to cool off (while admiring views of the gardens from above) at the neighbouring Marina Bay Sands infinity pool, too.

A visit to the hipster (and totally insta-worthy) Kampong Glam district is a must if you’re after a melting pot of history and culture, religious learnings, colourful 19th century buildings, delicious food, arts and crafts stalls, and an all-round vibey atmosphere. Crowned as Singapore’s Muslim quarter, this trendy neighbourhood plays host to top attractions including the spectacular Sultan Mosque and Malay Heritage Centre, not to mention a bunch of quirky shops and cafes. Equally, a wander through the 8-acre outdoor art park Haw Par Villa will be a feast for the creative types, since it features over 1000 traditional Chinese sculptures – each of which tell a story.

Head to the lively two-mile stretch on East Coast Road for some of the best eateries in the city and fuel up ready for Singapore’s popular Night Safari experience. This whopping 86-acre reserve houses over 2,500 nocturnal animals from across the globe, where you can observe them at leisure and even during feeding time – if you’re an animal lover, a 40-minte tour is highly recommended.

Extend Your Stay?

Once you’ve taken the time to explore this fabulous city, hop on a short flight to Bali for a few days of total paradise, or why not add on a stay on the sun-drenched Sentosa Island? Swap the city for verdant rainforests, palm-lined beaches, Universal Studios and award-winning spas – it’s a no brainer!
