Are you ready to set sail with Marella Cruises?

Marella Cruises - Marella Explorer 2

The Countdown Has Begun!

We're sure you're excited to set sail with Marella Cruises, but the journey starts well before you step onboard.

To help you prepare for a smooth and enjoyable cruise, we've answered some of the most common questions our guests ask. Whether you're managing your booking, completing online check-in, or simply wondering about dress codes, you'll find everything you need to know right here.

We've designed this FAQ to take the stress out of planning, so you can focus on the fun parts, like choosing shore excursions, exploring dining options, or picturing yourself relaxing by the pool. If there's anything you're still unsure about, our team is always here to help.

You can manage the cruise-specific elements of your Marella Cruises holiday through Marella Cruise Control. To log in, you will need your departure date, Marella booking reference and the lead passenger’s surname. Cruise Control allows you to complete online check-in, access your travel documents, print boarding passes and luggage labels, and book selected shore excursions and onboard experiences.

Cruise check-in is completed online through Marella Cruise Control. You will be asked to provide the required passenger and passport information before accessing your cruise documents, boarding passes and printable luggage labels.

Before travelling, Marella Cruise Control is the main online portal for managing your cruise check-in, documents, luggage labels, excursions and selected onboard experiences.

Once onboard, you can access Marella’s Navigate app through the web browser on your smartphone. There is no need to download it in advance. Navigate allows you to view the daily entertainment programme, make selected restaurant and spa reservations, check your onboard account and find useful information about the ship.

Every guest needs a valid passport to travel on a Marella cruise. You must check the passport and entry requirements for every country included in your itinerary, even if you do not plan to go ashore, as the ship’s arrival is treated as entry into that country.

Please check the entry requirements for the countries you’ll be visiting, some destinations do require a visa to be organised prior to departure. You can find the latest information at www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.

Marella shore excursions can be viewed and booked before departure through Marella Cruise Control using your booking reference, cruise start date and lead passenger’s surname. The most popular shore excursions do sell out so ensure you have pre-booked your most bucket-list tours early. Alternatively do check out Venture Ashore who also offer shore excursions in the majority of ports around the world.

Selected Marella speciality restaurants and dining experiences can usually be reserved through Marella Cruise Control approximately six months before departure. Payment is required when the reservation is made.

Tables for up to four guests can be booked before travelling. Larger groups should make their reservations onboard, ideally shortly after embarkation, to secure their preferred restaurant and dining time. Available venues vary between Marella ships.

Marella’s onboard dress code is relaxed and easy to follow, with three main categories:

  • Beachwear: Swimwear is welcome around the pool, although footwear must be worn for safety.
  • Casual: Tops, shorts and sundresses are suitable for relaxed daytime dining and casual venues.
  • Smart: Trousers, tailored shorts, skirts, dresses, shirts, polo shirts and smart footwear are recommended. Sportswear, swimwear, trainers and flip-flops should be avoided in venues operating a Smart dress code.

The dress code can vary by restaurant and time of day, so check the information displayed onboard or in the Navigate app. You should also pack suitable clothing for religious sites and destinations where shoulders or knees may need to be covered.

Marella has replaced traditional formal nights with a more relaxed Dress to Impress evening. This is your opportunity to wear something special and enjoy a more glamorous night onboard, but how dressed up you choose to be is entirely up to you.

Dress to Impress is generally held once during a seven-night cruise, although schedules can vary. Details will be published in your onboard daily programme and on the Navigate app.

Flights and transfers between the destination airport and the ship are included when you have booked an applicable Marella fly-cruise package. Your confirmation documents will show the flights, baggage allowance and transfers included with your holiday.

Flights and overseas transfers are not included with cruise-only fares, so guests booking cruise-only must make their own arrangements and allow sufficient time to reach the embarkation port. Always check the exact inclusions shown on your Paramount Cruises booking confirmation.

The standard allowance for Marella fly-cruise holidays operated by TUI Airways is generally 20kg of checked luggage per person. Allowances can be shared between guests on the same booking, but no individual suitcase may weigh more than 25kg.

You can also take one piece of hand luggage weighing up to 10kg, with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. Guests must be able to lift their own hand luggage into the overhead compartment. Infants under two receive a 10kg luggage allowance, and folding pushchairs can be carried without an additional charge.

Allowances may differ when travelling with another airline, so always check your booking confirmation and final flight documents.

Selected Marella Caribbean fly-cruises operated by TUI Airways offer a bonded luggage service. After checking your suitcase in at your UK departure airport, it is security-sealed and transported directly to your cabin. This means you can step off the aircraft and head straight to your coach transfer without collecting your luggage from the airport carousel.

Your booking confirmation will tell you whether bonded luggage applies to your holiday. You must attach the Marella luggage label available through Cruise Control before travelling. Guests flying with another airline or travelling to a destination without bonded luggage must collect their cases at the arrival airport before joining the transfer.

Always keep medication, valuables, travel documents, swimwear and anything you may need during your first few hours onboard in your hand luggage, as checked cases can take some time to reach your cabin.

Socket types vary by ship and cabin. Cabins aboard Marella Voyager, Marella Explorer and Marella Explorer 2 generally feature American 110-volt and European 220-volt sockets. Refurbished cabins aboard Marella Discovery and Marella Discovery 2 may also have UK sockets.

It is sensible to pack both a European two-pin adaptor and an American two-pin adaptor unless you have confirmed the socket configuration for your cabin. Electrical extension leads, irons and other heat-producing appliances may be restricted for safety reasons.

Yes, P&O Cruises offers the Peninsular Club, a loyalty programme that rewards guests for every night spent onboard.
