Silversea - S.A.L.T. Bar Cocktail Garnish

Silversea S.A.L.T. Programme

S.A.L.T., meaning Sea and Land Taste, is Silversea’s immersive culinary programme, created to reveal the people, traditions and stories behind the places you visit. Menus change as the ship moves between regions, cocktails draw on local ingredients and hands-on classes introduce techniques passed between generations. The experience extends ashore through tastings, markets, producers and private kitchens, turning food into a richer way to understand the world.

A journey told through ingredients, recipes and the people who preserve them

Culture Through Cuisine

S.A.L.T. connects the experiences onboard with the destinations beyond the ship. Silversea works with chefs, farmers, winemakers, authors, historians and producers who understand the culinary identity of their region, using their knowledge to create a story that continues through restaurants, cocktails, talks, classes and time ashore.

A Mediterranean voyage might explore the simplicity of Greek island cooking, the differences between Italian regional cuisines or the traditions surrounding Spanish wine. Further afield, the programme adapts to the ingredients, migration, history and rituals that have shaped food cultures across Asia, the Caribbean, South America and Northern Europe.

Taste the places outside through an ever-changing menu onboard

S.A.L.T. Kitchen

S.A.L.T. Kitchen is the centrepiece of the programme and the only restaurant at sea whose menu continually changes according to the destination. A broader regional menu sits alongside dishes focused more closely on individual ports, with ingredients and recipes selected to reflect local food traditions.

The restaurant is included within the Silversea fare and is accompanied by a collection of more than 160 regional wines. The experience is not simply about serving a local dish, but explaining why particular ingredients, techniques and recipes matter to the culture from which they come.

Let every cocktail tell the story of somewhere new

S.A.L.T. Bar

S.A.L.T. Bar explores destinations through traditional spirits, local ingredients, regional wines and craft beers. Signature cocktails change with the route, allowing a drink before dinner to reveal something about the agriculture, history or social traditions of the places being visited.

The regionally inspired cocktails created for S.A.L.T. Bar are complimentary. Tastings, discussions and mixology sessions may also form part of the programme, with the exact offering shaped around the ship and itinerary.

Cook, taste and return home with more than photographs

S.A.L.T. Lab

S.A.L.T. Lab is an interactive teaching kitchen where small groups can explore the techniques, ingredients and stories behind regional dishes. Guided by a S.A.L.T. Lab Host or visiting expert, guests prepare recipes while learning how trade, migration, climate and tradition helped shape the food on the plate.

Classes and workshops are complimentary, although places can be limited and reservations or registration may be required. The aim is not to recreate a formal cookery school, but to provide a welcoming space where curious guests can cook, taste, ask questions and meet others with a shared interest in food.

S.A.L.T. Experiences Ashore

S.A.L.T. Experiences extend the programme beyond the ship through destination-led culinary exploration. Depending on the port, guests might visit a market with a chef, taste wine alongside the producer, cook with a local family or discover an ingredient where it is grown and made.

The experiences are designed around small-scale encounters and local expertise rather than conventional sightseeing. Availability, capacity, pricing and physical requirements vary by sailing, with the final selection displayed alongside the shore experiences offered for the individual voyage.

Take a front-row seat as the destination becomes dinner

S.A.L.T. Chef’s Table

Aboard Silver Nova and Silver Ray, S.A.L.T. Lab transforms after dark into the intimate S.A.L.T. Chef’s Table. One nightly seating presents an 11-course sequence of small plates, with chefs using local ingredients and contemporary interpretations of regional dishes to express the setting and season of the voyage.

Guests sit close to the preparation area as each course is introduced, creating an evening that feels part restaurant, part culinary theatre and part conversation between chefs and diners. Reservations are required and a per-person dining charge applies.

Discover the history, movement and meaning behind every dish

S.A.L.T. Talks

Complimentary S.A.L.T. Talks explore the connections between food and culture through lectures, live demonstrations and sensory experiences. Hosted by S.A.L.T. specialists and visiting guests, subjects can reveal how ingredients moved between continents, why regional dishes developed or how communities preserve culinary traditions today.

These sessions add context to meals onboard and experiences ashore, helping guests recognise that cuisine is shaped by far more than taste alone.

S.A.L.T. Land Programmes

Selected voyages can be combined with multi-day S.A.L.T. Land Programmes before or after sailing. These experiences can include private tastings, regional restaurants, market visits, cookery sessions and meetings with the people who define the destination’s food culture.

Land programmes are separate from the standard cruise fare and differ by destination, duration and departure. Flights, hotels, meals and transfers included within each programme are confirmed at the time of booking.

S.A.L.T. on Silver Nova and Silver Ray

Silversea’s Nova Class ships offer the broadest version of S.A.L.T., combining S.A.L.T. Kitchen, S.A.L.T. Bar, S.A.L.T. Lab and the evening S.A.L.T. Chef’s Table. The Lab features professional cooking stations and panoramic windows, creating a space where the view outside remains connected to the ingredients and stories being explored within.

S.A.L.T. Chef’s Table is exclusive to these two ships, while their larger S.A.L.T. spaces provide more opportunities for classes, demonstrations and culinary gatherings throughout the voyage.

S.A.L.T. on Silver Spirit and Silver Muse

Following their recent enhancements, Silver Muse and Silver Spirit have joined the S.A.L.T. collection. Both offer destination-led menus at S.A.L.T. Kitchen and regional drinks at S.A.L.T. Bar, while Silver Spirit also features a dedicated S.A.L.T. Lab for complimentary classes and demonstrations.

This expansion means guests can now experience S.A.L.T. across a broader range of itineraries while retaining the intimate atmosphere and familiar character of Silversea’s established ships.

Travel Deeper Through Taste

S.A.L.T. creates a thread between the places visited, the people met ashore and the meals shared onboard. A recipe learned in the Lab, a cocktail mixed with a regional spirit or a conversation with a local producer can reveal aspects of a destination that traditional sightseeing may never uncover.
