Royal Caribbean - Icon Class - Icon Ships at Perfect Day CocoCay

Royal Caribbean's Icon Class

Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class brings together the scale of a resort, the thrills of a theme park and the flexibility of a family cruise. Eight themed neighbourhoods divide each ship into distinct places to play, dine, relax and be entertained, with seven or more pools, the six-slide Category 6 waterpark, Surfside for young families and shows inside the AquaDome and Absolute Zero. From Caribbean sailings to Icon Class in the Mediterranean, these ships are designed so every generation can shape a different holiday while still spending it together.

Meet the Icon Class Ships

Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas introduced Royal Caribbean’s newest generation of ships, followed by Legend of the Seas in July 2026 and Hero of the Seas in August 2027. The class will continue to grow, with a fifth, currently unnamed ship already under construction for 2028.

Onboard an Icon Class Ship

Every Icon Class ship follows the same neighbourhood-led design, but new restaurants, accommodation and entertainment give each vessel its own character. Together, the class combines high-energy attractions with quieter pools, green spaces and areas created specifically for families.

Royal Caribbean - Icon Class - Family walking in Central Park

Eight Themed Neighbourhoods

Icon Class ships are arranged around eight themed neighbourhoods, each with its own atmosphere and reasons to return. The Royal Promenade and Central Park bring together shopping, dining and live music, while Surfside is designed for young families. Thrill Island is home to the biggest attractions, Chill Island spreads pools and sun decks across several levels, and The Hideaway creates an adults-only beach-club setting. The AquaDome combines panoramic views with dining and entertainment, while the Suite Neighbourhood provides private spaces for eligible suite guests.

Royal Caribbean - Icon Class - Surfside and Family Facilities

Surfside and Family Facilities

Surfside is Royal Caribbean’s first neighbourhood created specifically for young families, placing pools, play, dining and accommodation close together. Children can splash through colourful water features, ride the carousel and enjoy age-appropriate activities, while adults relax at Water’s Edge Pool with views across the stern. Surfside Eatery and Surfside Bites make family mealtimes easier, and nearby Surfside Family Suites and the Ultimate Family Townhouse allow guests to stay close to the action. Exact venues and features vary between Icon Class ships.

Royal Caribbean - Icon Class - Category 6 Hurrican Hunters Slide

Category 6 Waterpark

Category 6 turns the top deck into the largest waterpark at sea, with six slides ranging from racing experiences to dramatic drops and family raft rides. Icon Class favourites include Frightening Bolt, the tallest waterslide at sea, and Pressure Drop, the first open free-fall slide on a cruise ship. Storm Chasers lets guests race side by side, while raft slides create thrills that families and friends can share. The exact line-up evolves across the class, with Hero of the Seas introducing further new slides when she joins the fleet in 2027.

Royal Caribbean - Entertainment, AquaTheatre Slackline

AquaDome and Absolute Zero

The AquaDome is one of the defining spaces of Icon Class, combining wraparound ocean views, a towering waterfall, relaxed daytime dining and spectacular entertainment after dark. The AquaTheater beneath the dome hosts aquatic and aerial productions created around high-diving performers, robotics and changing water effects. Nearby, the AquaDome Market offers casual food stands and The Overlook provides a quieter panoramic lounge. Absolute Zero adds a second purpose-built entertainment venue, presenting professional ice shows in Royal Caribbean’s largest ice arena at sea.

Royal Caribbean - Icon Class - Dining Hooked Seafood

Speciality choices range from Chops Grille and Izumi Hibachi & Sushi to immersive concepts such as Royal Railway and supper clubs with live entertainment. Royal Caribbean - Icon Class - Accommodation Ultimate Family Townhouse

Accommodation aboard Icon Class is designed for couples, families and multigenerational groups, with Interior, Ocean View and Balcony staterooms alongside an extensive Royal Suite Class collection. Family Infinite Ocean View Balcony rooms include a separate children’s bunk area, while Surfside Family Suites overlook the dedicated family neighbourhood. Spacious Infinite Balcony rooms bring the sea closer at the touch of a button, and Panoramic and Sunset suites maximise the views. At the top of the range, the three-storey Ultimate Family Townhouse combines an in-suite slide, cinema, hot tub and direct Surfside access.

Icon Class in the Mediterranean
