Discover Seattle |
With a backdrop of Washington state forests, mountains and the sparkling waters of Puget Sound, Seattle provides the natural gateway to Alaska. If you're looking to admire the city's natural beauty simply soar to the top of the iconic Space Needle, at 605 feet tall, its floor-to-ceiling glass observation deck offers incredible 360-degree views. Foodies certainly won't be disappointed; you'll just need to take a stroll through the historic Pike Place Market to discover the variety of fresh Northwest produce destined for the city's bars and restaurants. The only chain store in the market is Starbucks, which can be forgiven seeing as it's the company's oldest shop, grinding beans since 1971. |

The Edgewater Hotel |
Follow in the footsteps of The Beatles with a three-night stay at Seattle's Edgewater Hotel. Back in 1964, during their first world tour, John, Paul, Ringo, and George, stayed at the newly built Edgewater Hotel, where during their stay, they famously fished from the window of their suite. However, we wouldn't recommend trying to recreate this iconic image, in 1973 Led Zeppelin was banned from the hotel after it was discovered that they'd caught over 30 mud sharks, as well as throwing much of the furniture of their room into the waters of Elliot Bay. |

Norwegian Encore |
We love Norwegian's Breakaway-Plus class ships so it's a no-brainer that we think you're also going to be blown away by the newest addition Norwegian Encore. In fact, we were amongst the first to set sail on her as we cruised from Hamburg to Southampton back in 2019 just before her official launch. The Waterfront on deck 8 is a quarter-mile oceanfront promenade, designed to connect you with the sea and is perfect for wildlife spotting whilst cruising the Alaskan waters. If you're feeling competitive head up to deck 19 and race around the thrilling two-level racetrack. Where else can you say you've raced go-karts whilst cruising past Alaskan glaciers? |
