MSC Cruises’<\/a> most environmentally friendly ship and the 2nd LNG ship in the MSC Cruises fleet, MSC Euribia, is now on sale. Currently under construction at the Chantiers de l\u2019Atlantique shipyard in France, she is due to join the fleet in June 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where will MSC Euribia sail<\/strong> from?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

MSC Euribia<\/a> will spend her maiden season in Northern Europe sailing from her homeports of Kiel in Germany and Copenhagen in Denmark. From here she will spend the summer sailing north, exploring the Norwegian Fjords, calling at some of Noway’s most sought after destinations, such as Hellesylt, for the Geirangerfjord; as well as Alesund and Flaam, to name but a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does the name Euribia <\/em>mean?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

MSC Euribia<\/a> is named after the ancient goddess Eurybia who harnessed the winds, weather and constellations to master the seas, furthering the vision of the ship to master the deployment of state-of-the-art sustainable technologies to protect and preserve the precious marine ecosystem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brand New Hull Design<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ships in the MSC Cruises fleet have up until now had a very plain hull design, simply white with the ship’s name painted on the side. This is all set to change with MSC Euribia thanks to an exclusive artwork designed as a commitment by MSC Cruises<\/a> to the sea. Last year MSC Cruises held an exclusive international design competition, aimed at creating a truly unique artwork for the ship\u2019s hull. The winner was German artist Alex Flaemig<\/strong>, who overcame competition from artists from 59 different countries. His design will be featured permanently on the ship\u2019s hull, highlighting the steps that MSC Cruises is taking towards a greener future thanks to the cruise line’s pledge to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes MSC Euribia so environmentally friendly?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When MSC Euribia<\/a> comes into service in 2023 she will become the second LNG-powered ship in MSC Cruises<\/a> fleet, marking another step forward in substantially reducing greenhouse gas emissions. LNG plays a key role in the journey towards climate change mitigation and will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 25% on MSC Euribia compared to standard fuels while also virtually eliminating other air emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MSC Euribia will utilise an advanced wastewater treatment system, as well as an underwater radiated noise management system to minimise the effects of vibrations on marine life. Multiple energy efficiency features will also help reduce and optimise engine use.<\/p>\n\n\n
