It’s official, Norwegian Cruise Line<\/a> has today revealed that the godmother <\/a>of their groundbreaking new ship, Norwegian Prima<\/a>, will be world-famous pop icon and \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d judge Katy Perry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only will Katy Perry fulfil the longstanding maritime tradition of blessing and officially naming Norwegian Prima<\/a>, she will also perform during the christening ceremony on the 27th of August 2022, before Norwegian Prima sets sail on its inaugural voyages from Reykjav\u00edk, Iceland, where the vessel will have the honour of being the first major cruise ship christened in the Icelandic capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katy Perry will join an elite club of Norwegian Cruise Line godparents. Grammy award winner Kelly Clarkson named NCL’s latest ship, Norwegian Encore<\/a>, whilst Sex and the City star, Kim Cattrall, is godmother to Norwegian Dawn<\/a>. The iconic New York group, The Rockettes, are godmothers of Norwegian Breakaway<\/a>, whilst sister ship Norwegian Getaway<\/a> can count on the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders as official godmothers. The cruise line even broke the gender stereotype when “Mr Worldwide” himself, Pitbull, became the godfather of Norwegian Escape<\/a> in 2015.
